From typing test to a plan that fixes what’s broken
Most typing sites give you a WPM number and leave you to guess. We measure every keystroke, find the pattern behind your errors, and turn it into targeted practice.
- 1
Take a typing test
Pick 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds. You get live WPM, accuracy and consistency as you type, plus a per-second speed curve when you finish.
- 2
See why you're stuck
We break the run down by key and by letter pair — which keys you miss, which transitions you hesitate on — and plot them on a keyboard heatmap.
- 3
Practise what matters
Drills bias the word stream toward your weakest keys and bigrams, so practice time goes where it actually moves your speed.

Typing test questions, answered
Is the typing test free?
Yes. Unlimited 15, 30, 60 and 120 second typing tests are free forever, including live WPM, accuracy and consistency, personal best tracking and the public leaderboard. No account is needed to take a test.
How is WPM calculated?
One word is counted as five characters, following the standard used across typing tests. Net WPM divides correctly typed characters by five and scales to a minute, so uncorrected errors reduce your score. We show raw WPM alongside it so you can see the gap speed is costing you in accuracy.
What is a good typing speed?
Around 40 WPM is average for an adult touch typist. 60 to 80 WPM is comfortably above average and typical of people who type for a living. Above 100 WPM is fast. Accuracy matters more than raw speed: 95% accuracy at 60 WPM beats 85% accuracy at 75 WPM once corrections are counted.
How do I actually get faster at typing?
Practise the specific keys and letter pairs you are weakest at rather than retaking the same generic test. Learn Typing Fast measures per-key error rates and per-bigram latency, shows them on a keyboard heatmap, and generates drills that bias the word stream toward your weak spots.
Do I need an account?
No account is required to take a typing test. Creating a free account saves your results so you can track personal bests and appear on the leaderboard. Premium adds the diagnostic heatmap, trend charts and an AI-generated weekly drill plan.
What does Premium cost?
Premium is £5.99 per month, billed via Stripe, and can be cancelled at any time. It adds per-key and per-bigram diagnostics, the keyboard heatmap, WPM and accuracy trend charts, and a weekly drill plan generated from your own results.
